Our Story

How Awan Method Came to Be

Awan Method was founded with a straightforward observation: many business advisory engagements in Malaysia were being conducted by generalist consultants whose frameworks had been assembled elsewhere, for different industries, in different conditions. The advice that emerged was often competent but not quite right for the organisations receiving it.

The founders had spent their working lives in and around Malaysian aviation and travel — as operators, as advisors to operators, and as observers of how industry change actually moved through organisations. When they began working together formally, the focus was narrow by design. Aviation services, travel businesses, and aerospace MRO and support are related but distinct sectors, and each rewards careful, specific attention.

The name — Awan, the Malay word for cloud — reflects both the atmospheric design language we use and a practical metaphor: we try to see conditions at altitude, across a wider field, before offering observations to those working closer to the ground.

Our Mission

To offer Malaysian businesses in aviation, travel, and aerospace services the kind of advisory that is shaped by genuine sector understanding — written clearly, delivered honestly, and useful in practice.

Our Approach

We listen carefully before forming views. Each engagement begins with structured conversations rather than assumptions. Findings emerge from observation, not from templates applied to your situation.

Our Values

Discretion in how we handle what we learn. Clarity in how we communicate what we find. Honesty about what advisory can and cannot achieve. Respect for your organisation's existing knowledge of itself.

How We Work

Standards We Hold Ourselves To

Our engagement practices reflect what we believe good advisory work should look like in the Malaysian business context.

Confidentiality Standards

Information shared during engagements is held in confidence. We document this formally through a confidentiality agreement at the start of each engagement if the client prefers.

Evidence-Based Observations

Our written findings are grounded in what we observe and hear during the engagement — not generic frameworks applied without examination of your specific situation.

Clear Written Deliverables

Reports are written in plain, readable language. We avoid unnecessary jargon and present findings in a structure your leadership team can navigate and act upon.

Stakeholder Engagement Protocol

We conduct structured conversations with relevant stakeholders across your organisation — not just leadership — and handle those conversations with appropriate discretion.

Data Protection Practices

Personal and organisational data collected during engagements is handled in line with Malaysian data protection requirements and is not shared with third parties.

Scope Discipline

We work within the agreed scope of each engagement. Changes to scope are discussed openly and agreed before additional work proceeds — not added and billed without discussion.

Our Position

Business Advisory for Malaysian Aviation, Travel & Aerospace Services

Malaysian businesses operating in aviation services, travel, and aerospace MRO and support face an environment that is shaped by regional aviation dynamics, evolving customer behaviour, and a regulatory landscape specific to this market. Generic advisory frameworks developed for other contexts often miss the texture of what is actually happening here.

Awan Method operates from Kuala Lumpur, works only within these three related sectors, and brings advisory thinking that reflects Malaysian business conditions — relationships, regulatory considerations, and the practical realities of operating in this market. Our engagements are structured, time-defined, and produce written findings that leadership teams can work with.

We work with established organisations — businesses that have been operating for some time and are navigating a period that calls for outside perspective. We are not the right fit for early-stage businesses or for organisations looking for implementation support. Our role is to look carefully, form considered views, and communicate those views clearly.

Find Out Whether There Is a Useful Fit

A preliminary conversation — about an hour — helps both parties understand whether an engagement makes sense. There is no obligation at that stage.
